What could possibly…

…tear such a devoted mother from watching two (yeah, count it, two at the same time) of her daughter’s play in soccer game?
Pick your favorite.

You’d think they’d be glad to have a break from mom’s camera in their face?
But, even though they complain about my camera and my blogging,
I am convinced that they really do love it! (secretly, of course)
But just in case they are serious with their detest,
I choose to take pictures of things that are a lot less interesting.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane..

…it’s the reason that I prefer to take pictures and not have them taken.

Can you believe that this body really walks 2-3 miles 4 times a week?
Oh, and isn’t it funny how easily a blogger can get distracted at a soccer game.
Wow, Sophia did score about 8 times this game, but surely she didn’t kick the ball that high!

"God is in the wind"

I loved this faith promoting post about roses are red’s visit to the Columbine High School memorial.

I found this scripture to add to the post: Mark 4: 39 & 41

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And
the wind ceased, and there was a great calm …. And they feared exceedingly,
and said one to another, “What manner of man is this,
that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

I tried to capture the wind in photograph. Here is the best I could do for now.

Busy Bees

I have so many things to post about, but I have been a busy bee.
This morning I read 20 pages of my Book of Mormon and I caught up in my journal. (I use my blog for most of my record keeping. I just keep a separate small journal for spiritual matters)
I am now 5 loads into my 12 loads of clothes to fold.
And, if you can find the bees in these pictures, I am sure you will be a better photographer than me. I’m such an amateur.
Watch out though, the next time you are in the shower, you may find yourself peeking out the window and you may be so excited by what you see that you’ll be calling to your husband to bring you the camera. There’s nothing like interrupting a great warm shower to capture nature in movement.

A Southern Sky

Here was my view on the way home last Saturday evening.
This pic was taken through my windshield, so sorry for the quality.
I tried to stick my head out the window, but because we were going down the
interstate it didn’t quite work. (Don’t worry Faye, for once, I wasn’t driving.)

When I see the sun descending through the clouds like this,
I can’t help but feel the love of my Father in Heaven.
It is as if the clouds parted just so that I would take notice.

I love the lyrics from the song “Anyone Up There Who Love Me?” by an LDS artist named Michael McClean. Listen if you must.
A mother declares, while climbing the stairs, “Anyone up there who loves me?”
Her kids are outside, so no one replies, unexpectedly tears well up inside.

The last time he called, he said to them all, “Anyone up there who loves me?”
“I hate it down here, this time of the year, but I promise I’ll be home soon.”

That was a lovers promise, Heaven could not allow,
but he’s found a way to be with her somehow.

She sits on the stair, and whispers a prayer, “Anyone up there who loves me?”

Then soft like the wind, His love rushes in, gently answering I love you.

General Conference

It was a weekend of instruction at our house. For those of you that aren’t Mormon, General Conference happens twice a year (April and October). The modern-day Prophet, Apostles, all speak to the general membership of the church. Also, talks given by other church leaders are disbursed throughout the four two-hour sessions. (two on Saturday and two on Sunday)
Of course, the Conference doesn’t hail from TN, but it’s broadcasted throughout the world from Church Headquarters in Salt Lake City, UT. This is what our computer looks like while we are watching and listening online directly from the comfort of our own home.

Here is LG’s artistic presentation of me multi-tasking

I was scrubbing the bathroom and listening at the same time.

(I always strip down so that I won’t bleach my clothes)

Here’s the kids stash of food to tide them over –
notice the little loaf of homemade bread – YUM!
(Of course the food wasn’t fuel for them to actually listen,
but justification for mom and dad to listen and ignore them)

Abigail looks so glamorous as she stuffs her mouth.

We always go up and watch the satellite broadcast at the church for one session.
We want the kids to understand the importance of listening to our leaders.
Abigail really seemed to enjoy the talk given by Sister Susan Tanner.
I was proud the she recognized that she was being talked
about when Sister Tanner said:
“I never fail to be struck by the way that women,
young women, and even little girls seem to have an instinctive
interest and ability in nurturing.”
Abigail loves helping with babies.
And don’t you think her drawing is pretty accurate?
(I will post the actual picture of Sister Tanner,
as soon as they get it up on the church website)

And, by Sunday afternoon the kids were
pretty desperate for some entertainment.
Here is Bella gathering supplies for the fort building.

My favorite talk was probably the same for every Mormon mother out there.
Elder Ballard’s words about mothers was truly inspirational
(even if it guilted me into not wanting to spend so much time online.)
Me to LG, “I am not surfing the web, I am blogging….it’s totally different!
